What to Read: May 2020 – Post Twenty-One of Stay Home Order

It’s time for my monthly post about new releases! This month is going to be a little weird because publishers have been scrambling to move release dates due to working from home, warehouses being closed, printers being closed, and a shortage of paper. So, several May releases that I was ecstatic about have been pushed back, but not all of them. And that’s ok because it’s been hard to keep up with review reads lately since I’m a big mood reader. And my mood has not been cooperative for “assigned” reading.

So for this month, I’m going to attempt to read the review books I have waiting, but I’m not going to force it because I have a whole slew of great fantasy reads calling my name that I want to showcase for Wyrd & Wonder.

For Review:

Aurora Burning (The Aurora Cycle #2)House of Dragons (House of Dragons, #1)

I would like to say a big thank you to Penguin Random House for sending me a finished copy for review of Aurora Burning, the highly anticipated sequel from Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff, which I was not expecting to receive with the shutdowns. Another thank you to HarperCollins, who sent an arc of House of Dragons by Jessica Cluess back before the shutdowns. I’m excited to read both of these this month.

The newest book from Colleen Houck, Terraformer looks like an interesting dystopia to read during this troubling time. I received an earc through NetGalley, and I’m hoping to shake my inability to focus on ebooks to review this one soon.

Other Exciting May Releases:

Fae Spell (Yew Queen, #3)The Kingdom of Liars (The Legacy of the Mercenary King, #1)Forged in Fire and Stars

I’m excited for the release of what is, I think, the final book in the Yew Queen series from Eve A. Hunt. I enjoyed the first two books, so I’m hoping to pick this one up as well. Then we have The Kingdom of Liars releasing on time from Saga Press, and Forged in Fire and Stars from Philomel Books should also be releasing as expected.

Empress of Flames (The Girl King, #2)Of Silver and Shadow

Bloomsbury is releasing the sequel to The Girl King by Mimi Yu, and don’t forget to check out Jennifer Gruenke’s Of Silver and Shadow releasing from Flux later this month.

    1. I think I’m giving up on The Girl and the Stars for now. I just can’t get into it. Possibly due to the amount of description? Anyway, Aurora Burning is my next review, so I’m excited to start that one!
