I did receive some books for Christmas in 2019, and I almost forgot to share them. Here they are in all their glory 🙂
With all of the craziness that comes with the end of the year and holidays, I’ve been unable to document all the lovely books that I’ve been blessed with. Both pre-holiday and as Christmas presents. In this post, I will focus on the goodies not associated with the holidays. Another post will deal with all the lovely secret santas that I participated in. I’m really excited to share all of these wonderful books!
Last week was my birthday, and I just want to share the lovely presents I received from friends and family 🙂
I totally picked out everything in the above photo, but my lovely husband purchased it all for me as I couldn’t decide on what I wanted. Both of these manga are amazing, and I can’t wait to start trying out some watercolor techniques. Plus 3 new copic colors for those projects!
My first ever OTSP Secret Sister sent me this lovely Tamora Pierce themed birthday package! Lady Knight is full of her personal annotations, and I can’t wait to read what she thinks 🙂
This is obviously not a book, but I was delighted when I found this pre-made ice cream cake with icing dragon at my local Dairy Queen when I went to pick one up for my birthday 🙂
This is also not a book but a present to myself 🙂 This is a fun little dragon-fly with sunset moth patterning. Jessica Douglas (one of my favorite artists) was asking for suggestions for warm up paintings in a live stream and since I was the first person to jump on, I was able to make this suggestion and watch her make it!! I then purchased it because it is beautiful. Thanks so much!
As I’ve been behind with my last several posts, it’s fitting that this book haul post is a week late as well. But I am really excited about all of these, so I decided to go ahead and share. Plus, a second post this evening will showcase the book mail I received this past week! So much amazing mail!!
Hey all! I’m finally taking the time to share all the lovely and amazing goodies I received in the mail before the holidays got started 🙂 December was a great mail month!!
I decided to join a fun little project through Twitter called The Secret Sister Project, which runs for a six month period (this one is August through January) and is meant to bring a little joy and cheer to strangers accepted into the program and secretly paired up. You can check out more details here. It’s been so much fun to plan little care and gift packages and writing back and forth on real paper, so I decided to share how awesome my Secret Sister is this round! I’d share the packages I’ve put together, but then my secret sis would totally figure out it was me 🙂
For the first month, which was August, my secret sister put together some great little fun things with no theme. Gel pens, positive stickers, Legacies signed by Rosemary Edghill, and the Valerian soundtrack!! Not to mention that steampunk octopus art notecard created by Jessica Douglas 🙂 On point and amazing! We have so much in common it turns out and I’m loving our new friendship.
So for this month, I received a wonderfully themed box: Classic Redux. Another glorious art piece from Jessica Douglas, goldfish (rainbow), Monster High stickers and a mini (children of classic monsters), Prince of Egypt (musical retelling of Moses), and Indexing by Seanan McGuire, who I’m so excited to meet at the end of next week!! And the book is a fairy tale retelling in an urban setting as a police procedural. Loved it (expect my review very soon)!
I’m so impressed with my sister’s attention to details and love exchanging letters in between packages. We have so much to talk about that it’s a great well to relieve stress and spread a little bit of fun and fandom. I can’t help but want to do little things for my awesome sister, so I’ve sent a few signed bookplates her direction and will probably continue to do fun things like that for the rest of this session. Love this program so much!!
