Hardcover, 256 pages
Expected publication: March 3rd 2020 by Shadow Mountain
When Shadow Mountain contacted me about reading and reviewing or spotlighting this book, I thought it sounded very cute and adorable for middle grade. But it shares a release date with two other books that I’ve already committed to and the month is full of fabulous releases, so I only committed to a spotlight.

Book three of the Potion Masters series is here! I haven’t had a chance to read this series, but the covers are quite magnificent, and they sound intriguing. This post is part of a blog tour that the publisher, Shadow Mountain, contacted me about. I knew my January was going to be particularly full of review reads, so I committed to a spotlight post instead of a review. Check out the summary below and let me know in the comments if you’ve read this series yet!
Mezzarix has stolen the Vessel, the source of power for all potion masters, and is preparing to launch his final attack on the potion-making community—which includes his own family.
Gordy and his family have gone into hiding, but when his mom uncovers some new information, she takes Gordy into the underground network known as the Swigs, a haven for renegade potion masters and black-market potions, to secure support in the fight against Mezzarix. But when Scourges, rebel potion makers acting on orders from Mezzarix, attack the Swigs, Gordy barely escapes with his life and is forced to leave his family behind.
As the fight intensifies between B.R.E.W. and the Scourges, it falls to Gordy and his friends—Max, Sasha, and Adilene—to locate Mezzarix’s hidden headquarters, retrieve the Vessel, save the world, and unite the potion-making community.
The world of Potion Masters is full of fantasy and adventure as Gordy and his friends learn the power of friendship and loyalty, and to trust in their own individual talents.
Today, I once again bring to you a fun new book as a spotlight on the blog tour for Robert Peterson’s The Remnants: A Post-Apocalyptic Picaresque. Which sounds like another great read for the season if you’re looking for something a bit more sci-fi. Check out all the great info down below!

Expected publication: June 25th 2019 by Sourcebooks Casablanca
Today I’m participating in the blog spotlight tour for Kingdom of Exiles by Maxym M. Martineau, which releases in just 5 days from Sourcebooks Casablanca! I was drawn in by the cover, which isn’t unusual for me. Those swirly cool colors and mesmerizing tiger eyes really got my attention. But also, Sourcebooks Casablanca published a recent favorite series from Amanda Bouchet and I was ready to dive into their newest fantasy romance. And I’m so glad that I did!
Comparing this to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Assassin’s Creed is pretty accurate. Other spot-on comparisons would be Pokemon or even Throne of Glass. Assassins and magical animals are some of my favorite tropes and together they work surprisingly well.
The beginning of this debut is a bit slow and muddled. I don’t think the author was able to define the world’s rules early on to establish whether this was a pure fantasy setting, urban fantasy, or historical fantasy. I did occasionally find myself questioning what was going on based on my assumptions about what kind of setting it was. Luckily, that didn’t deter me from becoming engrossed in the characters and the beasts as they stole the show. There was enough mystery and promise of information that I finished this book in just a few days. I think if you can get past the bumpy world building, you’ll find a fun, fast-paced read that will leave you begging for the next book.
When I was asked to participate in the blog tour for The Transparency Tonic by Frank L. Cole, I volunteered to host a spotlight as I haven’t had a chance to read book 1. This series does sound quite fascinating, and I’m hoping to pick it up someday. Check out the summary below and see what you think!

It has been nine months since Gordy and his friends, Max and Adilene, Saved B.R.E.W. (the Board of Ruling Elixirists Worldwide) and the Vessel—the power source for the secret society of potion masters. Now, Gordy is starting the eighth grade, and has been trying new potion brewing techniques, but when he starts zoning out during practice, he knows something is wrong.
Gordy and his friends continue to work on their potions, but when Gordy chooses Max as his lab partner, Adilene starts to wonder if she still has a place with her old friends. She turns to a new friend, Cadence, who might know a way to help Adilene become a potion master on her own.
And in Greenland, Mezzarix has a chance to escape his Forbidden Zone—as long as he agrees to work with the mysterious Ms. Bimini and replicate an unusual solution known as “Silt.” It could be just the weapon Mezzarix needs to destroy B.R.E.W. forever.
With both B.R.E.W. and the Vessel in danger, and with the potion world in chaos, it’s up to Gordy, Max, and Adilene to rally the remaining Potion Masters before it’s too late.
